2022 ഓഗസ്റ്റില്‍ സല്‍മാനിയ മെഡിക്കല്‍ കോംപ്ലക്സില്‍ നടന്ന ശസ്ത്രക്രിയയ്ക്കിടെ ലോഹ ഇംപ്ലാന്റുകള്‍ നീക്കം ചെയ്യുന്നതിനിടെയാണ് രോഗിക്ക് പരിക്ക് സംഭവിച്ചത്.

ഇത് നാഡിക്ക് കേടുപാടുകള്‍ ഉണ്ടാക്കി. രോഗിക്ക് സ്ഥിരമായ 12% വൈകല്യം സംഭവിച്ചു. തുടർന്ന് ആദ്യ കോടതിയുടെ വിധി കുടുംബത്തിന്റെ ആവശ്യം തള്ളിയിരുന്നെങ്കിലും, ഹൈ സിവില്‍ അപ്പീല്‍ കോടതി ഇത് റദ്ദാക്കി.

കുടുംബത്തിന് പുറമേ, രോഗിക്ക് 4,500 ബഹ്റൈൻ ദിനാർ നഷ്ടപരിഹാരമായി അനുവദിച്ചു. ഡോക്ടർക്ക് തങ്ങളുടെ ഉത്തരവാദിത്വത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് ഓടി ഒളിക്കാൻ ആവില്ലെന്ന് കോടതി വ്യക്തമാക്കി.

Despite earlier acquittals of the doctors involved, Bahrain’s High Civil Appeal Court has ruled in favor of a family in a medical negligence case, awarding BHD 5,400 in compensation. The case relates to a surgical error during a foot procedure at Salmaniya Medical Complex in August 2022, which caused the patient a permanent 12% disability. The court clarified that criminal acquittal does not prevent civil liability, holding the hospital responsible for both physical and moral damages.
