Ride at your own risk on these potholed roads
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has been promising durable roads for long, but one rain and their false promises of the civic officials lay exposed. For the past two days, the city has been witnessing scattered showers. But the effect has already been felt on the city roads. Roads in the western and eastern parts have been washed away, while service roads on the metro routes including Vejalpur, Nava Vadaj, Navrangpura have been laden with potholes.
Commuting on the metro route at Srinandnagar in Vejalpur is risky for drivers. Chairman of AMC's roads and building committee claims that nowhere have the roads been washed away. "Show us if the road has been washed away," he said.
In two days of showers, some roads in the city have such huge potholes that resemble craters on the moon. The main road from Prabhat Chowk to Naranpura Gujarat Housing Board settlement has been washed away.
Roads on Pallava Char Rasta have also been badly damaged. Even Ashram road has been full of potholes due to the ongoing operation of the underground RCC duct work. In areas like East Vastral, New Nikol, Lambha, some roads are so bumpy that even motorists avoid passing through them.
