Honda has launched the new Vario 160 scooter in Indonesia. The Vario line-up of scooters has been in production in that country for more than a decade .

Speaking about the design, the Honda Vario 160 is not a proper maxi- scooter but sports a large fender that makes it look like a maxi- scooter.

This design is reminiscent of the Suzuki Burgman range of scooters in India.

Apart from that, the Honda Vario 160 also features a flat footboard for added practicality.

However, unlike the Suzuki Burgman range of scooters, the Honda Vario 160 sports a very sharp styling with a raised tail section for sporty looks.

Moreover, the Honda Vario 160 rides on 14- inch alloy wheels shod with 90/80 section rubber at the front and chunky 100/80 section rubber at the rear.

This setup not only benefits the scooter with added traction in corners but also improves the visual appeal.

The Honda Vario 160 gets a reasonably good list of features. It gets a fully digital instrument console, USB charger, smart key, LED headlamps, LED taillamps, dual- channel ABS with dual disc brakes, and many more .

The Honda Vario 160 also gets a decent size underseat storage at 18- litres, which is enough space to store a medium- sized half- face helmet.

However, we are not sure how efficiently Honda has designed the underseat storage to accommodate the helmet(s).

According to sources, the digital instrument cluster of the Honda Vario 160 displays a variety of information. Powering the Honda Vario 160 is a single- cylinder, liquid- cooled engine with 15 bhp and 13.4Nm of torque .

In Indonesia, Honda is offering the Vario 160 scooter in two variants - CBS and Dual- Channel ABS. Prices start from RP 2, 58, 00, 000 ( Approximately Rs 1.34 lakh) for the CBS variant and RP 2, 85, 00, 000 ( Approximately Rs 1.48 lakh) for the dual- channel ABS variant .

However, Honda has no plans to launch the Honda Vario 160 scooter in India but the company may soon launch the PCX 160 scooter in the country.

Honda Vario 160 is close to the Yamaha Aerox 155 in terms of specifications. Let's hope Honda realises this opportunity and launches the scooter in India .
