Born in Lahore
The talented Khurshid Bano was born inKarachi. She may have won hearts as Khurshid Bano, but her real name was Irshad Begum. At a time when films lacked sound, KhurshidBano graced Hindi cinema with her brilliant acting. Khurshid Bano began her film career in 1931 with the silent film "Eye for an Eye." After entering the world of cinema, Khurshid Bano (Khursheed Bano family) worked in numerous films one after another. This is how her talent gained wings.
Khurshid Bano was climbing the ladder of success by working in several films, but it was Ranjit Movietone's films that gave her film career wings. The actress left Lahore and began working with actors like K.L. Saigal and Motilal in Mumbai. This journey, which began in 1931, saw many ups and downs in Khurshid Bano's life. However, she gained fame with Chaturbhuj Doshi's 1942 release"Bhakt Surdas"and 1943's "Tansen." In these films, Khurshid Bano worked with singer-actor K.L. Saigal, which proved to be a positive boost for her career. Besides her acting, Khurshid Bano is also remembered for her voice. When Khurshid left India
Then came a time when KhurshidBanohad to leave India for Pakistan with her husband Lala Yakub. Her last film for Indian cinema was "Papiha Re," released in 1948. After this film, the actress left India forever that same year. Lala Yakub, in addition to being an actor, was also a member of the Bhati Gate Group, Lahore, Pakistan. Their marriage did not last long. After divorcing Lala Yakub, Khurshid Bano married Yusuf Bhai Mian. She appeared in films such as Laila Majnu, Muflis Aashiq, Nakli Doctor, Bomb Shell and Mirza Sahiban, Kimiyagar, and Madhur Milan.
Migration to Pakistan
Her last film in India was Papiha Re (1948), which was a big hit before she migrated to Pakistan, leaving her mark on the Indian film industry. Khurshid migrated to Pakistan with her husband after independence in 1948 and settled in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. She acted in two films in 1956, Fankar and Mandi. Mandi was notable for Khurshid and music director Rafiq Ghaznavi, but due to the film's poor handling, the film was not a box office success. The second film, Fankar, produced by Robert Malik, a physics teacher at St. Paul's English High School in Karachi, met the same fate.
