In recent times, 'Kasba Singhai Kheri' has been in the spotlight for its strong content and realistic approach. The series deeply portrays the reality of the 1990s and the world of crime, which makes it unique.

Recently, the cast of the series—Vishal Aditya Singh, Bhinda Aujla, Irra Mor, and Monika Rathore—had an exclusive conversation with Mayapuri. During this interaction, they shared insights about their character preparations, shooting experiences, their journey in the industry, and several interesting stories related to the project. Let's find out what the actors said in this special interview…

Your character in 'Kasba Singhai Kheri' looks completely different. How is it different from your earlier roles?

Vishal Aditya Singh: Usually in films, if the hero does something wrong, there is a strong justification shown behind it. But my character is completely different this time. There is no justification. He is a completely 'black' character. His only goal is to raise his brothers, no matter what he has to do for it. This is a story of the 90s, when unemployment pushed people towards crime. That is what makes it different.

You are a well-known name in Punjab, so why did you choose a crime web series for your Hindi debut? Please tell us about your character.

Bhinda Aujla: My childhood was spent in the border area (Uttar Pradesh), and I have closely seen life there. So I thought I should start with a story rooted in that land. I also felt this could help highlight and develop that region in some way. This story also gives a clear message—no matter what the reason, the wrong path always ends in wrong results. No one is above the law.

Coming from a family background in law, medicine, and engineering, when did you decide to pursue acting?

Irra Mor: I come from a family with no background in acting. But while watching films, I always used to wonder if I could also be a part of this world. Initially, it was just a dream, but gradually I realized it requires a lot of hard work and preparation. I started working towards it step by step, and today I am here.

Your role seems challenging. How did you prepare for it?

Monika Rathore: This role was very challenging for me because I don't belong to that background. I am from Madhya Pradesh, while the series is set in UP—so everything from language, dialect, clothing, and lifestyle was different. But as an actor, you have to step out of your comfort zone. I worked a lot on language, accent, and body language. I was nervous at first, but gradually everything became smooth.

How was the experience of shooting at real locations, and what challenges did you face?

Vishal Aditya Singh: We shot entirely at real locations, which gave the show an authentic feel. But there were many challenges. Once, the gun brought from Punjab for shooting was seized by the police, as they thought it was real because elections were going on at that time. It created chaos on set. Later, the team even arranged a gun by welding iron rods with a blacksmith. Also, the locations were very far, so even for small things we had to travel 30-40 km to Lucknow. In one scene, Bhinda ji actually jumped into a river and later jokingly asked if there were crocodiles there! Despite all this, we enjoyed the shoot a lot. Staying with villagers and experiencing their life closely was very memorable. Teamwork is the biggest strength of this show.

After playing an emotional father in the Punjabi film 'Poorna', why did you choose a crime series for your Hindi debut?

Bhinda Aujla: This was my first Hindi project, and I didn't want to be typecast. As an actor, I believe we should try different roles. In 'Poorna', I played an emotional character, but here I wanted to do something completely different. I don't want any tag that I only do one type of role. So I chose the crime-gangster genre to explore myself and learn something new. An actor is always learning.

Will 'Kasba Singhai Kheri' be a turning point in your career?

Irra Mor: Every project has the potential to be a turning point. 'Kasba' is also special for me because my character is very different and interesting. It is neither fully glamorous nor fully de-glam—it is a balanced role, which makes it unique.

Any memorable incident from the shoot?

Vishal Aditya Singh: My most memorable moments were the mornings and evenings when we traveled for a shoot. The peaceful roads at 6:30 am, trees on both sides, and a calm environment—that feeling I will always remember. In Mumbai, you don't get this experience. Here, even when I had no scenes, I stayed on set, spent time with villagers, and even drove a rickshaw. That was the real joy of shooting.

Bhinda Aujla: We shot in the same place where I grew up, so it was very emotional for me. It brought back childhood memories. This project also gave me not just a film but strong relationships and friendships.
Irra Mor: My most fun memory was eating sweets on set. I love sweets, so I enjoyed them a lot. These small things become big memories.

Monika Rathore: We shot in very difficult conditions—heat, small rooms, and limited facilities—but still had to perform. It taught me that no matter how difficult the situation is, you must stay calm and do your work.

Your personality and nose ring have become quite a talking point. What is the thought behind it? Did you face criticism or bullying?

Vishal Aditya Singh: I have always been a bit rebellious since childhood. I like experimenting and following my heart. The idea of a nose ring came from seeing people wearing it in Hollywood films and in Rajasthan. I thought—if they can wear it, why can't I? I never cared much about what people think. Yes, people did comment and make fun initially, but I didn't care. Even at my sister's wedding, relatives questioned it, but later women in my family said it suited me. For me, the most important thing is to be happy with myself.

How was your experience working with Cable One OTT?

Vishal Aditya Singh: It is a new OTT platform and they are moving in a very positive direction. Regional content is growing rapidly, and Cable One's pan-India approach is commendable. This is our first Hindi web series, and when new people come together, something special is created. We hope the audience will love this magic.
Irra Mor, Bhinda Aujla, and Monika Rathore also shared that their experience with Cable One was memorable.

What would you like to say on Mayapuri completing 52 years?

Vishal Aditya Singh: First of all, congratulations to Mayapuri for completing 52 years. Staying connected to the industry for so long is not easy. It is a legendary magazine. I just hope they continue bringing honest and interesting stories.

Irra Mor: Mayapuri is a very respected magazine. In the digital era, it is commendable that it is still in print. Congratulations to the team.

Bhinda Aujla: 52 years is a huge achievement. I would just say—keep reading and supporting it.

Monika Rathore: The name Mayapuri itself is enough. Staying connected with readers for 52 years is a big achievement. I wish them success for the next 50 years as well.
