Sugar Prices fell after a recent rise
Domestic sugar prices witnessed some profit-booking and weaker sentiment after rising consistently over the past several sessions.
Prices declined by around ₹10-₹20 per quintal across major trading centers as buyers turned cautious at higher levels. However, given the tightening domestic sugar balance sheet and concerns over lower carryover stocks, a sharp correction in prices appears unlikely during the remainder of the season.
In North India, M-grade sugar prices in Muzaffarnagar were quoted at ₹4,080-₹4,200 per quintal, down by approximately ₹10-₹20 per quintal from the previous session. In Maharashtra, S-grade sugar prices in Kolhapur were reported at ₹3,840-₹3,870 per quintal, easing by around ₹10 per quintal.
