Actor-politician Vijay's wife, Sankgeetha, has filed for divorce, at the Chengalpattu District Court. She has filed for a divorce based on irreconcilable differences, allegations of adultry, and mental strain.
In the petition filed, Sankgeetha has alleged that Vijay had an extramarital affair with an unnamed actress in 2021. The petition also alleged that Sankgeetha was neglected mentally, emotionally, and physically. The petition also mentions that she was subjected to verbal disdain.

In November 2025, Sankgeetha had the last of two discussions to explore a mutually honourable exit from their marriage.
Sankgeetha and Vijay were married in 1999. But their marriage was registered first in the United Kingdom, in 1998. They have two children Jason Sanjay, a director, and Divya Sasha.
