Kolkata, 17 August (Daily Kiran News). Once again, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal, leading to a shift in Bengal's weather conditions.
The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for several districts in North Bengal, while light showers and thunderstorms are expected in South Bengal and Kolkata.
According to information received, heavy rain is likely on Sunday in Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar districts. On Monday, upper districts will see rain accompanied by thunderstorms. The intensity of rainfall is expected to decrease slightly on Tuesday. On Wednesday, several districts from Darjeeling to Malda may again experience heavy rain and winds reaching up to 40 km per hour. Another round of heavy rain is anticipated from Thursday.
In South Bengal, there is currently no possibility of heavy rainfall. On Sunday, some areas of Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore, and Jhargram may experience thunderstorms and rain, with wind speeds reaching 30 to 40 km per hour. There will be almost no impact of rain on Monday. On Tuesday and Wednesday, thunderstorms and rain are expected across all of South Bengal.
In Kolkata, the sky will remain cloudy on Sunday with occasional light showers. Heavy rainfall is unlikely, but humidity and discomfort due to moisture will persist. On Sunday morning, the minimum temperature was recorded at 28.6 degrees Celsius, which is 2.1 degrees above normal. Over the next 24 hours, the temperature is expected to remain between 27 and 33 degrees Celsius.
