Consumer electronics major Samsung has launched the Certified Re-Newed programme in India.
With this initiative, the company will offer refurbished Galaxy series phones in premium S series, mid-range A, F and M series with company-backed assured build quality, and smooth performance at affordable prices.
All the phones sold under the Certified Re-Newed programme are said to undergo a comprehensive in-house refurbishment process, including detailed inspection, functional testing and software validation. Devices are restored using Samsung's genuine components and are packaged in new boxes.

Also, each device is reset to ensure complete data removal and is provided with the latest software updates. This ensures the device can be used for several years. It should be noted that Samsung offers six years of Android updates to mid-range phones and seven years for premium Galaxy phones.
And, most importantly, Samsung devices are backed by a one-year manufacturer's warranty, the same as the new Galaxy smartphones.

The move comes amid the supply constraint-induced rising costs of RAM and storage chipsets for smartphones. The phones launched in 2026 have around 14-15 per cent higher price than their predecessor.
As per the latest numbers from the CyberMedia Research (CMR) India Mobile Handset Market Review Report, the smartphone market recorded a decline of two per cent in shipments on a year-on-year (YoY) basis, and this is directly attributed to the sharp rise in DRAM and NAND flash prices.
The mobile phone shipments are expected to further decline by 10-12 per cent in 2026 compared to the previous year.
In September 2025, Google partnered with Cashify to offer refurbished Pixel phones at affordable price points with a one-year warranty.
More smartphone companies are expected to come up with similar plans, as there is no news of prices of RAM and storage coming down anytime soon.
