The discovery highlights the importance of studying evolutionarily significant but lesser-known groups like Lepidoptera, which are crucial for ecosystem functioning and serve as indicators of air quality in Himalayan regions.
Union Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change Bhupender Yadav congratulated the researchers, saying, "I congratulate all the lepidopterists who have worked for the discovery." He also emphasised the need for sustained taxonomic efforts in biodiversity-rich areas like the Himalayas.
