This request comes after the building collapsed on August 22, 2026, causing the deaths of two people and damaging a nearby building.

In a formal complaint to the police, the Assistant City Planner of Madhapur Circle-50 said that the building at H.No.1-60/113/135/1 in Anjaiah Nagar, Gachibowli Village was built without the needed building permit and without leaving the required space around it. Despite receiving warning notices on June 17, 2026, the owners, Farheen Siddiq and Md. Sajid, continued building without permission, breaking city rules.

On the day of the collapse, officials from the CMC, Police, HYDRAA, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Fire Department, and Revenue Department went to the site. There, rescue teams used equipment to find and remove two bodies from the collapsed building. In addition, one person in the nearby building, which was also damaged, was found injured.

Municipal officials stated that the owners are liable for undertaking construction without the required approvals and in contravention of building codes and prescribed norms. Furthermore, the apparent use of substandard construction materials and the lack of qualified technical supervision contributed to the structural failure. As a result, the CMC asked the police to file a criminal case against the owners and anyone else responsible, following the law.

The request was also sent to senior police officers in Kukatpally Zone for further action. Along with the request, documents like notices, reports, and photos of the site after the collapse were attached for reference.

This incident has made people question how well building rules are enforced in Gachibowli. Because of this, residents and activists now want stronger enforcement of building codes to stop this from happening again.
