HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has finalised the alignment for Greenfield Radial Road-2, planned to connect the Outer Ring Road (ORR) with the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR). Work on the project is expected to begin soon.
The road is part of the state government's plan to improve connectivity between the ORR and the proposed RRR through a network of radial roads. The project aims to support development in the Peripheral Urban Region (PUR) between the two ring roads.
Greenfield Radial Road-1 is already under construction. It runs from the ORR at Raviryala exit (point 13) via Future City, Kongara Kurd, Kongara Kalan, Meer Khanpet, Mucherla, Kurmidda, Kadtal, Mudwin and Amangal to Akuthotapalli, covering about 18 km.

Route and coverage
Greenfield Radial Road-2 will run for 51.4 km from Kotwalguda on the ORR to Chityal in Pargi mandal, linking with the RRR. The road will be built with a width of 300 metres.
It will pass through villages in Shamshabad, Shabad, Kondurg and Pargi mandals across Rangareddy and Vikarabad districts. Key villages include Kotwalguda, Shamshabad, Rayannaguda, Malkaram, Ramajipur, Solipet, Hayathabad, Pedda Ved, Damarlapally, Nagar Kunta, Bongiripally, Chukkampeta, Muthur, Dammayal and Tummalapalle.
Officials said the project will cover six mandals and 26 villages.
Land acquisition and planning
The government issued a notification for land acquisition recently. Officials will acquire land across six mandals in Rangareddy and Vikarabad districts.
Approval has been granted for the road alignment. Junction works to connect the new road with the ORR at Kotwalguda will begin shortly.
HMDA has proposed a total of nine radial roads between the ORR and RRR to improve connectivity and link state and national highways. The new corridors are expected to ease travel between the two ring roads and support urban expansion.
