HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has initiated plans to construct another flyover in the city to ensure signal-free access to the international airport.

The civic body has prepared proposals to build a six-lane flyover at an estimated cost of ₹345 crore on the Shamshabad Road, covering the Mailardevpally and Katedan junctions. The Standing Committee had earlier approved the proposal. The file will now be placed before the special officer for clearance before being sent to the state government.

A Corporation meeting will be held on Monday to discuss the proposal. Special officer Jayesh Ranjan is expected to attend the meeting along with Commissioner RV Karnan, additional and zonal commissioners, chief engineers and heads of various departments. A total of 31 agenda items will be taken up.

Land acquisition for H-City flyovers

For flyovers proposed at Nanalnagar and Retibowli junctions under the H-City project, 106 properties need to be acquired for road widening. The issue of acquiring defence land will be brought to the notice of the state government.

Agreements, sanitation and greenery works

The Corporation will consider entering into an agreement with the Electrical Engineering Department of Osmania University to function as the Project Monitoring Unit. It will also deliberate on awarding a four-year contract for study, design, supply and maintenance of automated signalling systems in several areas.

A tender notification will be issued to outsource sanitation management in tourist areas falling under Circles 12, 13, 14, 17 and 18 at an estimated cost of ₹14.02 crore.

The meeting will also discuss development of greenery at the GHMC head office at a cost of ₹32.26 crore and filling seven posts of town planning supervisors in the town planning wing.
