Construction of the NIMS auditorium is under way on Taj Krishna Road. Bikash Kumar, a native of Bhavanathpur-Persodih village in Jharkhand, had been working at the site for the past few days along with other labourers.

On Tuesday night, the workers had dinner and went to sleep. On Wednesday morning, Shravash Rajwar, a relative of Bikash Kumar, found him hanging inside a bathroom when he opened the door.

He alerted fellow workers, who informed the site security. The security personnel then alerted the police.

A clues team and Assistant Sub-Inspectors Jagan and Shivaji visited the spot and collected evidence.

Friends of the deceased told police that Bikash had been in a relationship with a young woman in his native village. They said he had informed his family over phone that he would die by suicide due to differences over the relationship.

Police registered a case and are investigating.
