HYDERABAD: Tech Mahindra has said R Bhavana, who protested outside its Hyderabad campus on July 23 alleging abrupt termination, remains an active employee of the company.
In a statement, the company said Bhavana joined its Hyderabad office on March 26, 2026. Tech Mahindra said it formally informed her on July 23 that her employment continued, and she acknowledged the communication. The company also said it processed her July salary as usual.
Tech Mahindra cites 27 days of leave
The company said Bhavana took 27 working days of leave between joining the company and July 22. This included 12 days of planned leave and 15 days of unplanned leave. The company excluded weekends and holidays from the count.

Tech Mahindra said it supported her leave requests due to personal exigencies and dealt with the matter with empathy and sensitivity.
According to the company, Bhavana remained absent for a period in July. It said she received several requests to report to the office and submit supporting medical documents.
Company says separation communication was not implemented
Tech Mahindra said it issued a separation communication to Bhavana on July 22, citing "Abandonment of Services". However, the company said it did not implement the separation and that she continues to remain an active associate.
The company said the claim that it terminated Bhavana for taking three days of leave did not reflect the complete sequence of events.
Tech Mahindra said Bhavana had access to internal channels to respond to the communication and raise her concerns. Instead, it said, she chose to protest and make what the company called inaccurate allegations on social media.
The company also alleged that Bhavana did not wish to resume work and was seeking an unjustified financial settlement. It said it would continue to address the matter through appropriate internal and external processes.
"Tech Mahindra is committed to providing a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace and to addressing associate concerns responsibly, fairly and in accordance with due process," the company said.
The statement comes after reports that Bhavana protested outside the company's Hyderabad campus on July 23. She had alleged that the company terminated her after she took leave to care for her ailing daughter.
