Early Life
Sumit was born on 1 November 2002 and grew up in the Dhakal village of Jind District, Haryana. He first got into boxing in 2013 and quickly started showing promise in the sport. Despite facing financial struggles, he didn’t give up hope and won his first gold medal in 2018 at the National School Games. He became the junior national champion and best boxer the same year. He then went on to win another gold medal at the Khelo India Games in 2019.
