The SIT is intensifying its probe into the adulterated ghee case at Tirumala. As part of the investigation, notices have been issued to former TTD chairman YV Subbareddy, who must appear before the SIT on November 13.
Recently, Appanna, the personal assistant to Rajya Sabha member and ex-TTD chairman Subbareddy, was taken into custody in connection with the ghee adulteration found in Tirumala laddoos.
His arrest marks the first political link in the case, which dates back to the YSRCP regime. Appanna had served as Subbareddy's personal assistant from 2014, when he was elected Ongole MP, until the 2024 elections.
He also worked as a Protocol Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at Delhi's Praja Bhavan during the same period. With the SIT now summoning Subbareddy, the investigation has entered a crucial phase.
The case involves the supply of ghee for Tirumala laddoos during Subbareddy's tenure as TTD chairman. Bholebaba Dairy from Uttarakhand supplied the ghee despite being blacklisted for poor quality. The dairy continued its supply through proxy companies, while AR Dairy from Tamil Nadu later took over the contract, using adulterated ghee routed via Sri Vaishnavi Dairy in Tirupati.
