Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav introduced Andhra Pradesh state budget in the Assembly on Saturday for the year 2026-27.. And as anticipated, people's capital Amaravati got huge allocations in the budget.
The Finance Minister presented a budget of Rs 3,32,205 crore. The Minister announced that Rs 6 lakh crore would be spent on developmental works in Amaravati.
On the other hand, Visakhapatnam which is hub to international tech giants in the Visakhapatnam Economic Region got Rs 28,000 crore.
Minister Lokesh's education department has been allocated Rs 32,308 crore bringing cheer to parents and teachers alike. Rs 11, 745 crore were allocated to the agricultural department. Rs 250 crore had been given for crop insurance. Rs 190 crore were announced for Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sanchay Yojana, which is implemented by the state and central governments.
To strengthen the municipalities, the Minister allocated Rs 14,339 crore. The police department too got some good news. The Minister announced Rs 3000 crore for procuring police vehicles which has been pending for a long time. He said the Cabinet also took a decision to allot 94 acres of land for AP Police Academy.
The Minister also gave good news to many by announcing Rs 3836 crore for fee reimbursements and scholarships. Hostels and gurukuls got Rs 300 crore. Afternoon meal scheme got Rs 2161 crore. The Minister also had huge sops for BCs, Scs and STs.
A whopping Rs 51,021 crore was allocated for BC component while the SC component got Rs 20,644 crore and ST component got Rs 9190 crore. The Minister had some positive news for minorities too. He announced Rs 6090 crore for their welfare. Under NTR Bharosa, the state government allocated Rs 27, 719 crore.
In keeping with CM Chandrababu's promise of homes to the poor in the state, the budget allocated Rs 6357 crore for constructing homes for them. Similarly, the transport, roads and buildings department got Rs 9856 crore to increase connectivity across the state.
The budget focused on providing basic infrastructure facilities to the people of Andhra Pradesh and most importantly to those below the poverty line.
Energy, the sector which the AP government is betting big, was allocated Rs 13,934 crore. It promised continuos power supply and energy safety. Payyavula allotted Rs 735 crore for labour-related issues.
By focusing on almost all departments and including the welfare of minorities and socially backward people, the 2026-27 AP Budget is being called an amalgamation of development and welfare goals.
