Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu has approved the creation of three new districts- Markapuram, Madanapalle and Polavaram with Rampachodavaram as headquarters.
With this, the total district count in the state will rise to 29.
A Cabinet sub-committee has also proposed five new revenue divisions: Nakkapally in Anakapalli, Addanki in Prakasam, Pileru in Madanapalle, Banaganepalle in Nandyal and Madakasira in Satyasai district.
Two new mandals will be formed as well. Peddaharivanam will be carved out in Kurnool and Adoni will be split to create another mandal.
Polavaram district will include Rampachodavaram and Chinturu divisions with a population of 3.49 lakh. Markapuram district will be formed by merging Markapuram and Kanigiri. Madanapalle district will combine Madanapalle and Pileru divisions.
The move follows the recommendations of the Group of Ministers and awaits final clearance in the next Cabinet meeting. These changes aim to improve administrative efficiency and respond to public demands.
