According to a report, in September 2020, a woman went to a clinic in Sydney's Maryland complaining of stomach pains and missed periods, where she was treated by Dr. Mohandas Balasingham.
The woman later alleged that the doctor had asked her several obscene questions like, "How many sexual partners have you had?" and "When did you first become sexually active?" and "How many of your boyfriends were Nepalese, and how many were Australian?"
In addition, the doctor was also accused of conducting a physical examination without the woman's explicit consent.

After leaving the clinic, the woman discussed this incident with her partner in tears and filed a formal complaint with the Health Care Complaints Commission two days later.
In light of the accusations, the New South Wales Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NACT) held a trial, where the doctor was found guilty of "unsatisfactory professional conduct" and "professional misconduct."
