Jr. NTR fans have finally received clarity about one long standing question. Will Devara 2 happen or not? The answer is now official. Devara 2 is happening.
Producer Sudhakar Mikkilineni, one of the producers of Devara, publicly confirmed this at an event held in Nandigama. When someone directly asked him whether Devara 2 would be made, he confidently replied that the sequel is confirmed, shooting will begin from May, and the film will release next year in 2027.
At present, NTR is busy shooting for Dragon, directed by Prashanth Neel. Once that shoot progresses further, NTR is expected to allocate dates for Devara 2 starting in May. Earlier, reports kept changing. Some claimed Devara 2 was shelved, while others said it was still on the cards.
During this uncertain phase, director Koratala Siva reportedly worked on different story ideas and even narrated a script to Pawan Kalyan, but none of those projects materialized. Recently, however, NTR and Koratala resumed discussions, which led to confusion about whether they were planning a fresh film or continuing with Devara. Now, it is clear that the discussions were specifically for Devara 2. Once Dragon wraps up, Koratala's Devara 2 with NTR appears to be locked. However, until the shooting begins, nothing can be said with 100% certainty that Devara 2 is indeed happening.
However, fans are not that excited with Devara 2's confirmation. Many fans feel that Devara Part 1, although a box office success, failed to become a memorable film. The movie received more trolling than praise, especially for its storytelling, the way NTR was presented, and unresolved threads. Adding to the concern, NTR's last release WAR 2 emerged as a critical and commercial disaster, which has increased pressure on his upcoming films.
Fans are hoping that Dragon will deliver the massive comeback they are waiting for, but that project itself faces uncertainty. There are rumors of reshoots and creative differences between NTR and Prashanth Neel. In this context, the announcement of Devara 2 has not generated any big excitement.
Still, there is hope that if Koratala Siva seriously works on the feedback from Part 1 and addresses the loose ends, Devara 2 could turn into a solid sequel and finally give NTR a kickass action-adventure drama that Devara was supposed to be. However, until the shoot begins, even such confirmation from the producer himself should be taken with a pinch of salt.
