The Nagarjuna Circle area is one place which is tricky to drive through in Hyderabad. With traffic headed towards Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills in one direction, towards Mehdipatnam on the other and towards Begumpet on another, the daily traffic problems of commuters is a story of long waiting and pollution.
The GHMC has finally decided to build a two-lane steel flyover at the NFCL Junction popular as the Nagarjuna Circle. It is part of state government's initiative to regulate traffic in high-density areas. An underpass is also being planned at TV9 junction to avoid rush towards Srinagar Colony.
The GHMC has already called for tenders for the steel flyover extending from Rd No 3 to GVK Mall. In 2022, the then BRS government built the first steel bridge to decongest the area. Now, Revanth Reddy sarkar is planning another one-way steel bridge.
The bridge will be 8.5 mts wide and will have a viaduct underneath to allow traffic. Similarly, near TV9, a two-lane 10 mt wide underpass will be built to address the traffic problem.
While the flyovers and underpasses are welcome, many Hyderabadis feel that there must be focus on developing a strong public transport system like in Europe where using a bus or Metro is done even by celebrities. Many Hyderabadis feel instead of complicating Hyderabad's infrastructure and messing with its aesthetics, awareness must be created about respinsible use of public transport and reduce the use of multiple private vehicles.
