The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) MD, NVS Reddy, is one among the 177 retired officers who are terminated from services by Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MAUD).

NVS Reddy was associated with the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project since the very beginning in 2007. Before that, he worked as additional commissioner of traffic and transportation wing of GHMC. The IRAS officer quit the service and joined the state government and was made permanent MD. He was on extension after his retirement.
Other key officers removed include HMWSSB executive director M Satyanarayana, TG RERA joint collector S Sataiah, HMDA chief engineer BLN Reddy, who was named in e-formula racing quit the posts.

According to the memo issued by MAUD, all special chief secretaries and principal secretaries of the Secretariat departments were asked to terminate the services of all retired employees working after retirement, either by appointment, contract or outsourcing basis.
This is irrespective of renumeration or HODs, including corporations, boards, and all govt agencies in state-level offices by March 31.

The order also made it clear that departments which still needed the services of these employees will need to obtain fresh orders with justification, from the competent authority.
Hence, 177 officers who were on deputation or engaged on a sourcing basis or contract were terminated from services. This included 63 retired officers from HMDA and 45 from GHMC.
