Internet Shutdown In Revanth's Kodangal

Tensions have escalated in Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's constituency, Kodangal since yesterday. It became so serious that the government shut down internet services in Dudyala, Kodangal, and Bomraspeta mandals.

Getting into details, villagers of Lagacherla in Dudyala mandal staged a violent protest the other day when the Vikarabad Collector and other government officials visited the village for a land acquisition process related to the establishment of pharmaceutical industries.

The situation intensified as villagers allegedly attacked officials, mainly targeting District Collector Prateek Jain, Additional Collector Lingyanayak, Sub-Collector Umashankar Prasad, and Kodangal Area Development Authority (KADA) Special Officer Venkat Reddy.

Prateek Jain and Umashankar Prasad escaped unhurt but KADA Special Officer Venkat Reddy sustained injuries. DSP Srinivas was also injured while attempting to shield Venkat Reddy.

After this attack, a huge police force was deployed in the village and the mandals of Dudyala, Kodangal, and Bomraspeta. Last night, around 300 cops performed door-to-door searches in the mentioned mandals and arrested 55 individuals. As part of the operation, internet services were shut down in these areas.

Meanwhile, social media users criticized the internet shutdown as undemocratic and opined that the news has been suppressed from reaching people.
