Pulivendula was once the bastion for YSR family. For three generations, the family held sway over local politics. But everything changed in August, 2024.
ZPTC elections were conducted in Pulivendula and Vontimitta. That's when YSRCP and Jagan had a reality check. TDP won the ZPTC polls and the YSRCP candidate Hemanth Reddy lost his deposit. More importantly, there was 74% voter turnout to vote against Jagan's party.
After this huge jolt to Jagan, the TDP has been consolidating itself in Rayalaseema. CM Chandrababu has put special focus on drought-hit Rayalaseema and brought in irrigation projects and industries to rejuvenate the region.
In this context, Jagan will be in Pulivendula starting Tuesday, February 24, for two days. He will attend the praja darbar at his camp office and get to know the problems of people firsthand. On February 25th, he will go to Nandipalli in Vempalli and participate in the installation of deity and perform special pujas. Then he will hold a praja darbar at Bhakarapuram camp office. He will also meet local YSRCP leaders. Following which he will return to his Bengaluru palace.
All this sounds good on paper. The big question being posed by Andhra political analysts is about the impact of Jagan's praja darbars. They say when Rayalaseema was starving and people wanted water, his government did not come to help.
Speaking of Pulivendula, it is the TDP that put in efforts to bring water to Pulivendula. Where was Jagan, the analysts question.
When Andhra Pradesh is talking quantum computers, horticulture industry in Rayalaseema, what impact will Jagan have? In Kuppam, Chandrababu has changed the face of his constituency by setting up renewable energy sources and bringing industries to the region. Chandrababu and Bhuwaneswari visit Kuppam regularly to meet with people and know about their wishes and aspirations.
Jagan seems to be mimicking Chandrababu. Will this help a dying YSRCP in Pulivendula? Will these last-minute efforts help the party on a ventilator?
