JH Defeat: KCR Planning State-Level Party Rehaul

BRS chief KCR is now taking steps to rebuild the party from the grassroots level. From the 2023 assembly elections to the recent Jubilee Hills election, BRS has faced only defeats, and the setback has shaken the morale of its cadre.

Party workers had hoped for a turnaround in Jubilee Hills, and the loss has left them frustrated. If this trend continues, insiders fear the party will struggle in the GHMC elections and later in the panchayat elections. Leaders say KCR plans to bring fresh leadership across the state to revive the party and inject new energy.

Until now, KCR has relied on ad hoc committees. He is now considering a full reconstitution of the politburo and wants to appoint new district presidents and general secretaries to promote young leaders and reshape the organisational structure.

With the party facing an existential crisis after ruling for a decade, KCR may outline clear roles for KTR and Harish Rao and shift focus to grassroots mobilisation ahead of the local body polls. There is also talk that KTR will study the journeys of regional parties like DMK, AIADMK and TMC to understand how they bounced back after major setbacks.

The party will also launch a membership drive to connect with the Gen Z vote bank and build a stronger base before the next round of elections.

Political analysts say it is time for KCR to move beyond farmhouse politics and meet people directly if he wants to regain the party's once-strong vote bank.
