YSRCP leader and former minister Ambati Rambabu spoke to the media about Amaravati and raised objections to the idea of a world class capital for Andhra Pradesh.
The remarks come even as CM Chandrababu repeats that Amaravati will be ready by 2028 as a modern capital.
Ambati Rambabu questioned why the state needs a world class city and compared it with Delhi. He says in Telugu, "Mana karma kakapote, enduku antha goppa rajadhani manaki?" and followed it with lines that mocked the scale of the project and its ambition.
On the other side, one had seen Chandrababu's earlier push that helped shape Hyderabad into a major city. Now one gets to watch him drive a similar plan for Amaravati with a clear aim to build long term infrastructure and attract global attention for the state.
Amaravati is presented as a capital for future generations of Andhra Pradesh. It is said Amaravati will match major cities like London, New York and Shanghai in planning and comfort, while also using advanced technology for daily life and public systems.
By opposing this plan, YSRCP is seen as attacking the idea of growth itself. One can see people link this stance to why voters rejected the party, as many now view these statements as a sign of limited thinking about the state's future.
