After a long wait, Varun Dhawan's Baby John is finally arriving in theatres. The action-drama has specifically grabbed a lot of attention due to Salman Khan's cameo and a glimpse of the same was featured in the trailer.
However, it seems like Salman's appearance won't contribute a lot to the film's success. The advance booking numbers at chains such as PVR INOX and Cinepolis have been pathetic and it is too low compared to Mufasa: The Lion King.
Baby John Trend Similar To Biggest Disasters?
This is undoubtedly bad considering that it is releasing on Christmas.
The worst part for now is that the hardcore fanbase of Salman Khan has also stayed away from the film. It seems like they are not willing to pay a single penny to watch Salman for a few minutes.
Shocking: Director Quits, Couldn't Handle SRK?
On the other hand, the same people have claimed on a few occasions that Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan became a blockbuster only because of Salman's cameo. But this is not true.
Pathaan emerged as the highest-grossing film of last year specifically because the superstar returned to the big screen after a long gap of five years and the trailer and songs created a lot of buzz before release.
Salman Kicked Out by His Biggest Hit Director?
Now coming back to Baby John, the first glimpse was the only thing that made people aware of the film. But apart from that, nothing else was up to the mark, including the singles, that failed to reach on top of the charts.
A section of the audience needs to understand that cameos can never save a film. They might contribute to the popularity but it cannot help to pull audiences. Even Singham Again failed to do the same.
Baby John is reportedly expected to sell around 60,000 tickets in advance booking which is not a good number. It remains to be seen if positive word-of-mouth can bring some change.
