The case was registered after a woman filed a complaint at Zirakpur police station in 2018. She alleged that Singh lured her with promises of taking her abroad, raped her at his residence in Mohali's Sector 63, and filmed the act.

She further claimed that he threatened to release the video on social media if she did not comply with his demands. While Singh was convicted, five other accused in the case were acquitted.

Singh has faced multiple legal troubles in recent months. Earlier this month, Mohali Police booked him for assault after a video surfaced showing him slapping a woman during an argument.

Additionally, on February 28, a 22-year-old woman accused him of sexual harassment, alleging that he sent inappropriate messages and made unwanted advances. A three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Superintendent of Police Rupinder Kaur is investigating the allegations.
