Ram Charan is currently busy with his upcoming sports action drama Peddi, which is scheduled to release on April 30. After finishing this film, the actor is expected to begin work on his next big project with director Sukumar.
The film is tentatively referred to as RC17, marking their reunion after the blockbuster Rangasthalam.
Because Rangasthalam was a massive success and Sukumar later delivered another pan India blockbuster with Pushpa: The Rise, expectations for this new collaboration are already very high. Although the project was officially announced almost a year ago, the shooting has not started yet, which created curiosity and some concern among fans.
Recently, confusion started when Sukumar's associate director Hussain Sha Kiran spoke at Mrithyunjay's trailer launch event. During the event, he mentioned that the team was working on two stories for the project. His statement quickly spread online and made many fans worry that the script was not finalized and that the movie might be delayed further.
However, Hussain Sha Kiran has now clarified his statement in another interview. He explained that his earlier comment was misunderstood. He did not mean that the team was developing two different stories. Instead, he said that Sukumar's writing team had prepared two versions of the same story, which is a common practice in Sukumar's filmmaking process.
According to him, Sukumar has already locked the core storyline for RC17. The team will choose the best version among the written drafts before moving into production. This clarification has put an end to the rumours about the story not being finalized.
The film will be produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the same banner that produced Rangasthalam. Once Ram Charan completes promotions and commitments related to Peddi, the RC17 project is expected to begin production. Industry insiders believe the film could reach theaters sometime in the second half of 2027 or early 2028, and the makers are expected to reveal more official details soon.
