The Telangana government is planning to set up a drone hub near Future City. The proposed hub will focus on pilot training, research and development, and data analytics.
It will be located away from Shamshabad airport, with flat land at Mondigowrelli, Yacharam shortlisted.
With rising drone usage in defence and civil sectors, the state is moving ahead with plans for a drone city in Bharat Future City. Four government owned land parcels at Yacharam have been identified. Officials are preparing to begin groundwork soon.
Revenue officials have already identified government land in Mondi Gowrelli and submitted a detailed report to TGIIC. These land parcels are expected to be handed over shortly. Earlier attempts to establish a drone port did not progress further.
After the success of the Telangana Rising Global Summit, the government renewed its focus on the drone hub project. Officials believe the initiative can attract investments and boost technological development in the region.
The growing use of drones in defence operations and disaster management has strengthened the proposal. Many citizens have welcomed the government's decision. The project is seen as a step towards positioning Telangana as a drone technology hub.
