Looking back at standout performances across Indian cinema this year, strangely we can name only three so far.

At the very top is Rishab Shetty's intense and powerful act as Berme in Kantara Chapter 1. Next comes Dhanush, who delivered an outstanding performance of Deva, the beggar in Kubera. The third is from Bollywood: Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.

Unfortunately, no Telugu performance has stood out at this level yet. What makes Shetty and Dhanush's work more striking is that their brilliance runs throughout the film, while Vicky Kaushal shines mainly in the climax block of Chhaava.

Box office success can create super hits and blockbusters, but very few actors truly earn lasting appreciation for their craft. In 2025, so far, only these three names have delivered performances that rise above the noise.
