The reappointment of Rajya Sabha member Vijayasai Reddy as the Northern Andhra Coordinator of the YSR Congress Party has sparked dissatisfaction among some party leaders and activists.

They believe that his past actions, particularly during his previous tenure, caused significant damage to the party in the Uttarandhra region, especially in Visakhapatnam. These critics argue that bringing Vijayasai back as coordinator will not yield much benefit and may further alienate local leaders and supporters.

Previously, YV Subbareddy had served as the coordinator for Uttarandhra before Vijayasai Reddy was handed the role ahead of the 2019 elections. During YSRCP's time in power, Vijayasai Reddy allegedly wielded considerable influence in matters like transfers, postings, and land allocations in the region.

His actions during this period have reportedly fueled the dissatisfaction among some leaders, who feel that his reappointment ignores the party's internal issues and concerns from grassroots members.

There was hope within the party that after YSRCP's defeat in the 2024 elections, a different leader would be chosen to revitalize the region. Senior leaders such as Botsa Satyanarayana or Dharmana Prasada Rao were seen as potential candidates for the Uttarandhra coordinator role, given their experience and standing within the party.

Botsa, in particular, was expected to take on this responsibility due to his recent selection as an MLC and his position as the leader of the opposition in the council. However, Jaganmohan Reddy's decision to reassign Vijayasai Reddy has raised questions among party members, many of whom are asking why a local leader with a better understanding of regional issues was not given the role.

Despite this, some supporters believe that Vijayasai's return could boost morale among certain activists who are loyal to him. The differing opinions indicate internal tensions as the party looks to rebuild after its electoral loss.
