Rajini began in Telugu Desam Party but shifted to YSR Congress after she was denied a ticket.

In 2019, she contested from Chilakaluripeta on a YSR Congress ticket and shocked many by defeating TDP leader and Former Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao. She later entered the cabinet during the second expansion and served as Health Minister for two and a half years, even above seniors in Palnadu.

Just before the 2024 election, she was moved to Guntur West. She fought hard there but still lost in the wave. After the defeat, she quietly returned to Chilakaluripeta and continued working at the local level. But reports suggest Jagan now wants her in Repalle to counter Minister Anagani Satyaprasad.

BC voters are strong in Repalle. Anagani won three consecutive terms and even pushed Former Minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana out of active politics. Jagan tried again with Evuru Ganesh in 2024, but Anagani still won with a 40K majority. Even government pressure and mining troubles did not make him leave Chandrababu.

Mopidevi later joined TDP after the 2024 loss. Now Jagan aims to defeat Anagani in 2029 by using Rajini. Rajini sees this as another push that damages her stability. Frequent leader shuffling for caste balance already cost the party heavily in 2024, and many lost even after strong campaigns.

Rajini is under more pressure as cases continue under the new Government. Her future path remains unclear. Returning to TDP is difficult because she burnt bridges and faces corruption allegations. Janasena is uncertain too, as Pawan Kalyan may not risk tension with his coalition partner.

That leaves BJP as her most realistic route. Joining the Saffron Party gives her a chance to push for a Chilakaluripeta ticket through the BJP High Command. For Rajini, this appears to be her only workable option at the moment.
