Welfare Calendar, Big Move By Chandrababu Naidu!

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has asked officials to announce a special welfare calendar. He said the calendar must clearly show which scheme will be implemented each month.

It should come into force from the next financial year.

He also directed officials to arrange financial resources well in advance. Naidu stressed that the satisfaction level for the Super Six schemes must cross 90 percent. He made these remarks during a review meeting at the Collectors' conference.

Earlier in Andhra Pradesh, during the YSR Congress government until 2023-24, an official welfare calendar was released. It listed welfare schemes on a month wise basis and guided implementation throughout the year.

Welfare has been the main plank of YSR Congress coming to power. Most government spending went towards salaries, pensions, and welfare schemes. This left very little space for development related expenditure during that period.

In Chandrababu Naidu's earlier tenures, welfare received relatively less focus. In the current term, he is giving welfare higher priority to avoid any political disadvantage. This marks a clear shift in his governance approach.

The welfare calendar is expected to improve the government's credibility among beneficiaries. It can also reduce any political advantage YSR Congress may have in the welfare segment. Clear timelines often build trust and predictability.

YSR Congress focused only on welfare during its five year term. However, the 2024 verdict showed that people want more than welfare alone. Voters expect development, infrastructure growth, investments, and job creation.

Naidu is now trying to strike a balance between welfare and development. If released and executed properly, the welfare calendar will give clarity and confidence to beneficiaries across the state.

On similar lines, Nara Lokesh is planning a job calendar for government job aspirants from next year. If implemented well, it could deliver strong political and administrative gains.
