The Election Commission of India had released the schedule to fill ten vacant MLC seats (Five in AP and Five in Telangana). The polling if necessary will happen on 20th March and the counting is scheduled to happen on the same day.

These are MLAs Quota MLC Seats and so, the TDP and its allies will bag all the five seats.

Will Group II Mains Issue Influence MLC Elections?

This elections are necessitated due to the retirement of members - Janga Krishna Murthy, Duvvarapu Rama Rao, Parchuri Ashok Babu, B Tirumala Naidu, and Yanamala Ramakrishnudu.

Janga Krishna Murthy, a BC leader who shifted from YSR Congress to the TDP maybe re-elected. He has been disqualified as the Member of Legislative Council following his rebellion against the YSRC leadership.

Vallabhaneni Vamsi Given to Custody, On Conditions

Parchuri Ashok Babu is a TDP loyalist. So we have to see if he will get a re-election.

All eyes are on Yanamala Ramakrishnudu to see if he will get re-elected.

Naga Babu Entry Into State Cabinet Matter of Time

Yanamala was with Chandrababu when the latter rebelled against NT Ramarao. Yanamala was the Speaker then. Since then, he always get utmost respect and importance In the party and whenever Chandrababu becomes the CM.

When Yanamala lost from TDP Bastion, Tuni in 2009. He was sent to the Council and he got a renewal every single time.

Even then, his brother, Krishnudu was given Tuni ticket and even then the seat remained complicated due to the issues in Yanamala family.

Nara Lokesh wanted to deny ticket for the family in the recent elections but Yanamala prevailed on Chandrababu and got ticket to his daughter at the last minute.

Recently, Yanamala wrote an open-letter on Kakinada Port and SEZ issue taking a stand that is completely opposite to the party.

At a time when the government in Andhra Pradesh is trying to corner YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in the alleged irregularities in the transfer of ownership of Kakinada Special Economic Zone (SEZ) land, Ramakrishnudu, in the letter said that Kakinada Port Chairman KV Rao and big companies, including Divi's Laboratories, cheated the Backwards Class (BC) farmers in Kakinada SEZ by acquiring their lands by paying cheap prices.

The Government was supporting KV Rao in the transfer of ownership issue. The Promoters of Divi's Laboratories belong to the Kamma community and TDP Supporters. Yanamala was trying to create a Kamma Vs BC rift.

Yanamala's letter subtly made a threat to the TDP government that he would mobilise the BC farmers against it if it failed to act on his demands. He even added 'Chowdary' to KV Rao's name even though it is not in the records.

Back then, Political analysts analyzed that this letter is nothing but a blackmail to get an MLC re-election or a Rajya Sabha seat.

We will have to see if Chandrababu Naidu will budge!

When Yanamala wrote the letter, the Government neither responded nor called Yanamala to pacify him.

Telugu Desam Party has given many opportunities to Yanamala and his family. It is better if he gracefully retires instead of trying something that could impact his daughter's political career as well.

Interestingly, four members of the Yanamala family are currently holding power positions, including him (Politburo Member). His daughter Divya is the Tuni MLA, his son-in-law Putta Mahesh Yadav is the Eluru Lok Sabha member and his brother- in-law Putta Sudhakar Yadav is Mydukuru MLA.
