After its announcement in 2017, the project has seen various changes and controversies. Despite all of that Bhushan Kumar, the chairman of T-Series, is adamant about telling his father's story on the big screen.

According to reports, the biopic is getting revamped from the ground up.
The T-Series head is looking for a new star to play the role of his father and he reportedly asked Ranbir Kapoor to take the mantle. However, due to his busy schedule, the superstar might not be able to shoot till 2026.

Bhushan Kumar has some backup though as he is planning to have talks with Ayushman Khurrana and Varun Dhawan if Ranbir declines the offer.
Initially, Akshay Kumar was announced as the lead cast for the film but left due to creative differences. Then, Aamir Khan came on board as the star and producer but he also had some disagreements about the film's vision leading to his departure.

Not just the cast but there are some changes behind the camera as well.
After the original director, Subhash Kapoor, faced allegations as part of the #MeToo movement he was kicked out of the project. As a result, the film remains directorless at the moment.
The film is also believed to be at the scripting stage. Reports suggest that some new writers have come on board to re-write and reimagine the narrative.
