Aizawl: Kolasib Deputy Commissioner H. Dolianbuaia on Wednesday carried out an inspection of areas along the Mizoram-Assam border, reviewing security arrangements and interacting with personnel deployed in the sensitive frontier zones, officials said.
During the visit, the deputy commissioner met officers and personnel of the Mizoram Armed Police and the Indian Reserve Police stationed at three key locations along the border.
He discussed the prevailing security situation with them, along with operational challenges and the infrastructure requirements faced by the forces.
At the Sabual border outpost, considered a vulnerable stretch of the inter-state boundary, Dolianbuaia assessed recurring issues and the practical difficulties faced by personnel on the ground.
He assured them that steps would be taken to address their concerns.
The deputy commissioner also commended the security personnel for their dedication and steadfast commitment to protecting the border despite the challenging conditions.
In addition to reviewing security measures, Dolianbuaia inspected the ongoing widening of National Highway 306, a crucial road link in Mizoram, which is being expanded to four lanes between Kolasib and Vairengte.
Officials from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited briefed him on the current progress and implementation status of the project.
