Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday afternoon filed his nomination from the Jalukbari Assembly constituency. He filed his nomination at the Kamrup (Metro) District Commissioner's office.
After completing the formalities, the Chief Minister was seen acknowledging supporters who had gathered in large numbers, as the city witnessed a massive political mobilisation in his favour.
Earlier in the day, Sarma led an impressive rally in Guwahati, which began from the Veterinary College Field at Khanapara and moved towards the Kamrup (Metro) District Commissioner’s office, where he eventually filed his nomination.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by his wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma and son Nandil Sarma on the occasion.
A five-time MLA from Jalukbari, Sarma is seeking to retain his stronghold as he eyes a second consecutive term as Chief Minister.
