In Assam's Dergaon, a mahout was killed in a sudden attack by a domesticated elephant on Thursday.

The incident took place in Molai Kumar Gaon, where an elephant named Ramprasad was being taken through a village road.

Another elephant was already present in the area, feeding nearby.

According to local reports, the situation turned tragic when the two elephants came face-to-face on the same route. The mahout of the second elephant, identified as Prashanta, stepped down from the animal. In a sudden turn of events, Ramprasad reportedly attacked him, killing him on the spot.

After the incident, the elephant moved away from the area. Later, its handler managed to bring it under control and tied it in a nearby forested area.

Locals also claimed that the same elephant had been involved in another fatal attack, when it allegedly killed its owner.
