IndiGo Appoints Willie Walsh as Chief Executive Officer
IndiGo has appointed Willie Walsh as Chief Executive Officer. The appointment was announced earlier in March 2026, and he has now assumed charge to lead the airline's next phase of growth.
Willie brings over four decades of experience in the aviation industry. He began his career as a pilot with Aer Lingus and went on to become its Chief Executive Officer in 2001. He later served as CEO of British Airways and subsequently led International Airlines Group. Most recently, he was Director General of International Air Transport Association.
In his new role as Chief Executive Officer, he will oversee overall management and strategic direction of the airline. His responsibilities include driving global expansion, strengthening network and commercial strategy, managing operations, and working with the leadership team to support business growth and customer experience initiatives.
