Gloria Guevara said Egypt has become an important example of tourism recovery and growth, highlighting the country's increasing contribution from the travel and tourism sector and rising international visitor arrivals.

According to WTTC data, Egypt's travel and tourism sector contributed USD34.4 billion to the economy in 2025, while the country welcomed around 19 million visitors during the year.

Tourism revenues in Egypt have also grown significantly, increasing from USD4.9 billion during 2020-21 to more than USD18 billion in 2025.

The Leadership Cruise includes discussions focused on tourism development, infrastructure investment and destination growth strategies. Ministers and industry executives are also sharing plans for aviation, hospitality, and tourism expansion in their respective markets.

Egypt has been investing in tourism infrastructure projects, including plans to expand hotel capacity, increase airport connectivity across 27 airports and develop high-speed rail links. The country has also recently opened the Grand Egyptian Museum, which houses more than 100,000 artefacts.

Manfredi Lefebvre said the cruise offers an opportunity for tourism leaders to engage in discussions around sector recovery and future development while experiencing Egypt's tourism offerings.

WTTC estimates that travel and tourism contributed USD11.6 trillion to global GDP in 2025, accounting for 9.8 per cent of the global economy and supporting 366 million jobs worldwide.
