SC: MEDIATION CANNOT BE FORCED IN CONTEMPT CASES

Case:Rupa and Co. Ltd. & Anr. vs. Firhad Hakim & Ors.

In a recent hearing the Supreme Court set aside Calcutta High Court ruling in contempt petition case which opted for mediation even when Appellant was opposing the same, and asking to hold the State guilty for not following the laws.

The Apex Court held that mediation can not be imposed in cases when there is no consent, mainly in contempt case proceedings.

SC SEEKS NCRB'S RESPONSE ON PRISON CASTE DATA COMPLIANCE

Case:In Re: Discrimination Inside Prisons in India | SMW(C) No. 10/2024

Last Year Bench of SC passed a Judgment regarding there should not be any caste based separation in prisons of any State or UTs. Thereafter on Feb, 18th, the Supreme Court issued notice to Nation Crime Bureau Record regarding compliance with the Sukanya Shantha judgment, which directed the deletion of caste references in prison records. The Court seeks updates on compliance from States and UTs regarding caste-based discrimination in prisons.

SC QUASHES MADRAS HC'S ORDER ON FORMULA 4 RACING

Case:Racing Promotions Pvt. Ltd. vs. Dr. Harish & Ors.

The Supreme Court set aside Madras High Court Judgement in regards to the Formula 4 Racing event in Chennai for 3 years . The MoU was RPPL private entity will spend around 202Cr in the Event and Sport Development Authority of Tamilnadu (SDAT) will spend around 42Cr in the initial year then 15cr each year. The Apex Court upheld the Public Private partnership and stating the importance of the partnership in private player which bring their expertise in particular sector while state's support in the will grong more of efficiency hence become a part of good governance for better pf society.
