Udaipur, March 14 (Udaipur Kiran): The two-day 45th free mass wedding ceremony for differently-abled and underprivileged couples began on Saturday at Narayan Seva Sansthan's Seva Mahatirth campus in Liyon Ka Guda, Udaipur.
A total of 51 couples will tie the knot during the event, including 25 differently-abled and 26 able-bodied couples.
More than 700 guests from different states of the country have arrived to witness the humanitarian event. The ceremony began in the morning with Ganpati Sthapana followed by a Ganpati Vandana dance performance on the song "Ghar Mein Padharo Gajanand Ji".
After the inauguration, traditional rituals of haldi and mehendi were performed, filling the venue with festive enthusiasm. At 11:15 am, all 51 couples dressed in yellow attire took their seats on the stage at the Hada Auditorium, which was decorated with yellow flowers.
The ceremony was formally inaugurated with Ganpati Sthapana by the institution's founder-chairman Padma Shri Kailash 'Manav', co-founder Kamla Devi, president Prashant Agarwal, and directors Vandana Agarwal and Palak Agarwal along with distinguished guests.
Under the guidance of Vandana Agarwal and Palak Agarwal, guests applied haldi and mehendi to the couples as part of the traditional rituals. The atmosphere turned festive as guests danced to songs such as "Aaye Hai Meri Zindagi Mein Bahar…", "Haldi Lagao Tel Chadhayo Ri…", "Mharo Mehendi Ko Rang…" and "Shyam Naam Ki Mehendi".
Chief guests Vijaya Kumari from Delhi, Trishal Sharma from South Africa, Mahiraj from Mauritius, and Prasanna Kumar Raut from Odisha were honoured with turbans, shawls and mementos by Kailash 'Manav', Prashant Agarwal, Jagdish Arya and Devendra Chaubisa.
The evening of the first day featured a women's musical and dance programme. Cultural presentations based on Radha-Krishna Raas, Rudra Avatar Hanuman, the nine forms of Goddess Durga and Lord Ram of Ayodhya deeply moved the audience.
Institution president Prashant Agarwal said that on Sunday at 11:15 am, all couples will take the seven sacred vows around the holy fire according to Vedic rituals and begin their married life. The institution will also provide essential household items to each couple as gifts to help them start their family life.
He said that every couple participating in the ceremony carries a unique story of struggle, courage and hope. Some have overcome physical challenges, while others have continued to pursue their dreams despite social and economic difficulties. Their journeys serve as an inspiration and send a strong message that courage and determination define a person, not limitations.
