This bike looks like the second coming of the Yamaha FZ25 as the headlight looks quite similar!

Quick News Highlights

  • Is Rs 6,745 cheaper than the FZ-S Fi

  • Offered in 2 colours: Matte Titan and Metallic Black

  • Powered by the same 149cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine

Yamaha India has launched the newest addition to the FZ lineup, called the Yamaha FZ-Rave. The bike is priced at Rs 1,17,218 (ex-showroom, Delhi) making it Rs 6,745 cheaper than the Yamaha FZ-S Fi. The new bike gets a couple of design changes compared to FZ-S.

What sets this bike apart is the unique-looking headlight. The headlight looks a lot sharper, and seems similar to the one which on the now-discontinued Yamaha FZ-25. It also has a similar-looking taillight as the Yamaha FZ-25, and we like this one better than the one on the FZ-S. It is offered in 2 colours: Matte Titan and Metallic Black.

Other than the addition of this new headlight, the bike remains the same in terms of performance and underpinnings. It gets the same 149cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine which produces 12.3PS and 13.3Nm. This one does not get the mild-hybrid system like the FZ-S Hybrid.

It rolls on 17-inch front and rear alloy wheels. Braking is taken care of by disc brakes at both ends, with single-channel ABS. The bike has a 13-litre fuel tank, and the kerb weight comes to 136kg, which makes it 1kg lighter than the Yamaha FZ-S. It gets a simple LCD console, which displays speed, fuel level, odometer and multiple tripmeter readouts.

The bike goes up against the Bajaj Pulsar 150, the Suzuki Gixxer 150 and the TVS Apache RTR 160 2V. Recently, TVS had also launched an anniversary edition of the same.

The Yamaha FZ-Rave is a slightly sportier-looking option in the Yamaha FZ lineup, especially with the robot-like headlight. That said, the FZ range is getting a bit too crowded now. With this new bike, there are 9 bikes under the FZ family, including the retro FZ-X!

Speaking of retro bike fans, Yamaha has also launched the XSR155 in India. It even surprised us with two brand new electric scooter unveils - the sporty Yamaha Aerox-E, and Yamaha EC-06.
