N Chandrababu Naidu said YSRCP leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy faced setbacks while trying to attack the government's welfare and development schemes.
Chandrababu is currently in Delhi, where he met MPs from the state.
He held discussions with them for about 40 minutes at the Telugu Desam Party Parliamentary office. He said YCP found one issue to protest against, the construction of medical colleges under the PPP model. He noted that people did not support this campaign.
Chandrababu said Jagan attempted to create drama by claiming he would collect one crore signatures. That effort failed, he said. He advised MPs to study the PPP model at the Delhi level to understand how it works in practice.
The MPs informed the Chief Minister that several hospitals function under the PPP model in Delhi and Gujarat. Chandrababu said increased visibility and popularity also bring greater responsibility. He told MPs that leaders must function with more accountability.
The PPP model for medical colleges has become a major issue for YSR Congress Party. The party claimed to have gathered one crore signatures, which Jagan submitted to the AP Governor. Analysts later said the signatures were from party cadre, not the public.
