Four defence manufacturing facilities are coming up in Andhra Pradesh. After Operation Sindoor, India plans to use more indigenous weapons and expand exports to other countries.
Andhra Pradesh will now play a key role in this strategic push.
One facility will be set up in Madakasira on 1000 acres allotted to HFCL. It will manufacture artillery shells, grenades and ammunition. Bharat Dynamics Limited will build a propellant and weapons integration facility at Donakonda, strengthening the state's defence footprint.
Another BDL unit will open in Anakapalli for underwater weapons and torpedoes. A separate facility will also come up at Orvakal. The Chandrababu government aims to build strong defence and aerospace hubs across Madakasira, Donakonda, Anakapalli and Orvakal.
The state targets Rs 1 lakh crore in investments over the next five years under its Aerospace and Defence Policy 4.0. Key focus areas include manufacturing clusters for components and final products, MRO facilities and advanced R&D centres.
