Baby John has been one of the most highly anticipated films of this year. Considering that it was arriving in Christmas, makers were confident that it would take an opening of almost Rs. 25 crores.
However, the situation has been worse than the expectations since the first day number is reported to be Rs. 11 crores, which is extremely low specifically on the day of a national holiday.
Kattar Enemies Join Hands: 150 Crores in Risk?
Meanwhile, the business has crashed on the second day, with collections of only Rs. 4 crores. The first day collections were so low that it had to hold up well on second day for some run.
If the film collected somewhere around 7-8 crores it would still have been accepted. But 4 crores collection on second day is totally pathetic. It has crashed completely.
Pushpa Vs Baby John: This Is B'Wood's Big Problem
There are multiple reasons why people don't want to watch the film. First its a remake of Theri which is already available on YouTube.
The second is Varun Dhawan who is not capable of scoring a good opening day number as a solo hero. Audiences want to watch him in a romantic film and he is a complete misfit in the role of a massy police officer.
Baby John First Day BO: Totally Shocking
The entire team has been busy with promotions for almost a month, with Varun Dhawan going to various channels for interviews.
But the box office numbers for the first two days have proved that audiences want something different and unique like Pushpa 2: The Rule. No one is interested in remakes now and producers need to understand this if they don't want to see the downfall of Bollywood.
Moreover, Varun Dhawan should strictly restrict himself to films that fall under his comfort zone. Although he has made his debut more than ten years ago, he is yet to go a long way if he wants to reach the position of a superstar.
