Cheap Talk On CBN: KCR Had A Clear Plan?

Former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao addressed the media after a long gap. He spoke in detail about delays in the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Project.

He blamed both the State Government and Central Government for the prolonged delay.

KCR stated that his party had given the government enough time. He announced plans to hold multiple public meetings soon. These meetings would question the government over what he described as repeated failures.

He also criticised the Future City proposal. KCR termed it a real-estate gimmick. He further dismissed the MOUs signed at the recent Investors Summit as bogus.

Towards the end of the press meet, KCR said he would not take questions from reporters. He claimed he did not want the focus to shift away from the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Project issue.

However, the situation changed when the Bharat Rashtra Samithi chief brought up Chandrababu Naidu without provocation. This shifted the narrative completely from the project discussion.

While speaking about the Investors Summit in Telangana, KCR alleged it was bogus compared to summits held during Chandrababu Naidu's earlier tenure in Visakhapatnam. He attempted humour by claiming chefs from star hotels signed MOUs at the Visakhapatnam Partnership Summit.

There was no direct relevance in mentioning Chandrababu Naidu. Yet, KCR once again concluded a press conference by targeting CBN. This diverted both media and public attention from the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Project.

If KCR was serious about avoiding distractions, he could have skipped the reference. The move appeared deliberate to many observers. It raised questions about his real intent.

Political circles believe KCR aims to provoke Chandrababu Naidu. A counter-response from Telugu Desam Party leaders could allow BRS to invoke Telangana sentiment. This strategy may help the party mobilise votes.

After the 2024 elections, Chandrababu Naidu visited KCR in hospital following his surgery. Despite repeated provocation by BRS leaders, Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh have largely remained silent.

This time, the attempt to draw them into a political exchange appears more direct. How Chandrababu Naidu or Lokesh respond will shape the next phase of this political narrative.
