Tamil director Atlee is one of the reputed commercial filmmakers in Indian cinema now. Though he always faces complaints about copy pasting scenes from popular action films and combining them to make an action film of his own, his works are well received at the box office which is the more important thing.
After directing Jawan which collected over Rs 1000 crore gross, Atlee came up with Baby John, the Hindi remake of Theri. He vowed to make Varun Dhawan a superstar with this film. On top of that, he promoted himself as one of the faces of the film after Varun Dhawan, though it is Kalees who directed the film.

However, sadly for Atlee, who produced and promoted Baby John, this film is getting outrightly rejected at the box office. The film has collected Rs 15 crore nett in two days which is an agonisingly poor number.
Highflying Atlee looked to propel to the big league after 1000 crore Jawan but he might not even end up making 50 crore with his immediate next film in Hindi. Let alone making Varun Dhawan a superstar, Atlee might not even have a face saving film this time, remarked a netizen.

Atlee was originally supposed to direct Allu Arjun's film after Jawan but he backed out later due to unannounced reasons. Now that he has been served a shocker with Baby John, it has to be seen how he will come out of this situation.
After this result, Atlee might have to break a sweat to convince a star hero to work with him. But he has the largely successful track record thus far to show for himself and this might work the trick.
